F.A.Q
Do not hesitate to contact us should you have any other questions not answered below.
Yes, more than likely. We can remap the vast majority of vehicles, with new vehicles being added all the time. You can check here to see if your manufacturer is listed. If not, please contact us as there will probably be something we can do to enhance the performance or economy of you vehicle.
For estimated performance gains, please contacts us with the make and model of your vehicle. You will usually have a few options: performance, economy, towing, or a good all-rounder.
Every vehicle and engine variant differs, so please contact us.
We are very competitive with prices starting from £199.
Rapid Tuning only provide CUSTOM remaps.
A generic file is designed to suit a wide range of vehicles sharing the same hardware and software. Generic files are not specific to your own requirements. For example, if you had a VW Golf 2.0 TDI (170PS), the same file would be used on every other Golf with the same engine. Some generic files are good, some are not so good, and some are dangerous. In some cases, a poor generic remap may cause serious engine damage. However, even good generic files do not offer the same results as a custom remap.
A custom file is written on an individual basis and is specific to your own requirements. It is based on your particular vehicle, driving style and power delivery preferences. A good custom file will always deliver better results than a generic file.
No, quite the opposite!
With like for like driving, you will actually see an improvement in fuel economy after the remap. An economy remap will considerably improve your MPG – saving you £££’s on fuel. Even a performance remap will see an improvement. The vehicle produces more torque, allowing you to drive in a higher gear (at lower revs) for any given speed. This means that the engine is not working as hard and uses less fuel. Diesel engines have the greatest gains, with improvements in fuel economy of up to 20%. Petrol vehicles can also see a noticeable improvement.
No.
Sadly, vehicles can often be over tuned, “straining” the engine components and reducing the life and reliability of your vehicle. This is why it is vital to choose a tuner wisely.
Here at Rapid Tuning we take extra care to ensure all of our remaps have no effect on your vehicles reliability. All performance increases are well within safe parameters and manufacturers tolerances.
An economy tune will actually extend the life span of some components (such as the gearbox and clutch) by making the power delivery much smoother.
We have remapped modern engines with over 200,000 miles without issue.
Potentially.
Nothing is physically changed when we carry out the remap, and the software changes will not show on main dealer diagnostic equipment. Don’t be fooled though, there are still other ways of detecting a remap (despite common misconception).
However, for the dealer to refuse a claim they must be able to provide evidence that the remap is at fault.
In reality you may actually find that your dealer appreciates the benefits of the remap (some actually offer a remapping service themselves!).
This is entirely up to you.
We must advise you to inform your insurance company that the remap has been carried out. An increasing number of insurance companies will not penalise you for tuning of this type, especially if you’re remapping for better economy. Why not give them a call and get a quote?

Yes.
All original and modified files are saved, so we can revert the vehicle back to standard at any time. Some customers choose to do this if they sell the vehicle (although it is not essential).
The process takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the vehicle.
We like to accompany you on a test drive afterwards to ensure you are 100% happy.
Many modifications will actually enhance the software even further.
If you let us know what modifications you currently have (or plan to make in the future), one of our engineers will be able to advise you accordingly.
Tuning boxes simply ‘fool’ the ECU by giving false sensor values. The ECU then increases the fueling of the vehicle. Although gains are made, this often causes bad engine running and poor economy. The longevity of the engine components can also be affected.
Yes certainly.
Your vehicle will actually burn fuel more efficiently due to being finely tuned.
Yes, what we are doing is totally legal.
We are simply fine tuning your vehicle for increased performance and better fuel economy.
